Digital technologies are playing a transformative role in the modern world. The changes associated with digital innovations such as social media, blockchain technology and smart embedded devices are rapidly disrupting a variety of industries across the globe and challenging institutions, organizational structures, and most importantly, the skill-set needed for successful new ventures. This module focuses on digital business transformation and digital entrepreneurship. It enables students to understand the challenges and opportunities of the dynamic complex and disruptive technological business environment of the digital age.

EUSEBIO SCORNAVACCA, PH.D.

PROFESSOR OF Management information systems

Dr. Eusebio Scornavacca is Parsons Professor of Digital Innovation and Director of the Center for Digital Communication, Commerce and Culture at University of Baltimore (UB). He also holds the J. & M. Thompson Chair in Management Information Systems at the Merrick School of Business. Dr. Scornavacca is a truly global scholar with a strong research collaboration network across six continents.

Prior to joining UB, Prof. Scornavacca was a faculty member and director of research at the School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. He has also held visiting positions in Japan, China, Egypt, Italy, France, Finland, Morocco and Brazil. His research interests include disruptive digital innovation, high-impact innovation, mobile and ubiquitous ecosystems, and digital entrepreneurship. During the past 20 years he has conducted multidisciplinary research using qualitative and quantitative methods in a wide range of industries, including research sponsored by the private sector.

Dr. Scornavacca’s research has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Information Technology, Communications of the ACM, Decision Support Systems, Communications of the AIS, Information & Management, Computers in Human Behavior, Journal of Computer Information Systems and Television & Media. He has held several editorial positions and served as track chair at conferences such as ICIS, ECIS, PACIS, AMCIS, ACIS, HICSS and Conf-IRM.
